The Xenon searchlight revolutionized the searchlight business.
Since then there have been various attempts to create a similar luminosity with various different bulb types and the like. Sky Cannon is a good example and there are others.
The above light was back engineered from a SkyTracker STX2K 6 years ago and has been a stable and reliable light. In the first couple years, naturally there were some quirks, but those were handled years ago and this light will give you depending and a bright and sweeping arc.
Often people see the 4 leaf clover SkyTrack in a parking lot running on a generator and sitting on a trailer. It is impressive and it should be for $69,000. For one 1/10th of that, you can have your own single beam or buy two and let them cross each other in the sky over your location.
Personally, it is our feeling that two single beam, spaced apart, sweeping both the sky and across each other is a more dramatic effect.

Also a quick note about shopping for a searchlight. Websites out there make some pretty exaggerated claims about visibility and you’ll find that the photos used are often touched up to make it appear brighter. Seachlights require moisture in the air and will perform best if away from city lights. Given city light conditions, you can expect visibility to realistically be under one mile most often, for any unit regardless of what anyone may claim.
