Here are some valuable tips when shopping for an inflatable.
AIR DANCERS
Do they mention the weight of their material
Many companies will use a lighter material to save money. If a company sells a one leg air dancer larger than 18 FT, it is usually the lighter material, unless a 5200 CFM fan is used. 1.3 oz rip stop can only work at 18 FT for a one leg air dancer due to it’s increased weight.
Do they indicate where it is manufactured
Many companies bring in inferior air dancers that are made in China. They will not last very long. Look for a company that can create an air dancer with YOUR ARTWORK in less than 2 weeks. Overseas air dancers can not be made that fast.
Misleading Advertising
Many companies advertising air dancers for only $98. This is merely a tube fabric.
Website
We believe that a company’s website is a reflection of the company and it’s quality. Generally, if a website looks slapped together and haphazard, so is their products and service.
Photos of Air Dancers
Photos can be telling and extremely misleading. Click here for visual clues. Take a good look at the air dancers. Does it look well made? Careful review will give you a lot to go by. Look for the “home baked cookie” look of air dancer photos taken in people’s home driveway, or in front of their retail location. Pay attention to arm attachment and look for small crooked lettering and general dull color and stiff body. The arms will tear off in weeks, if not days. The units will remain stiff and tip over instead of dancing.

Only a genuine patented Fly Guy will have the mesmerizing range of dancing motion. It is due to it’s simple, yet highly enforced patent. They all appear quite similar in a static photo, but when you plug in an imitation (whether made locally or overseas), it will simply flap it’s arms and sometimes fall over. A real Fly Guy will truly dance. A good indicator if a two leg unit is an imitation is:
1) Only a real Fly Guy is called a Fly Guy. Other names are not Fly Guys.
2) The head of many imports is shaped more like a can instead of a round head.
3) Look at our photos of Fly Guys, if it doesn’t look the same, it’s a knock-off.

Mini Air Dancers and Fly Guys
Mini versions of air dancers and Fly Guys are available, often for much less than a large outdoor commercial one. These are quite fine for indoor use, light occasional outdoor use on days with no wind and placement where an large air dancer would be too loud. Mini versions will be 12 FT or less. The tubing is 9 to 10” instead of 18. Applications that require a mini version are few and if you are looking for an air dancer to use regularly and to increase your store traffic, you should only be looking at units that run on outdoor 18” fans. We do offer shorties, call to evaluate it’s use first.
HOT AIR BALLOONS
Most of the same general tips above should be used when shopping. Look for material identification, general web site appearance.
Careful on eBay.
Read our important bulletin here. (A must read). We looked at units available there and were terribly disappointed in the rampant practice of deceptive advertising and worst of all, the unreliable buyer reviews. On eBay, people are afraid that if they leave a true and negative comment, that the seller will retaliate with a negative comment back. We noticed that many of the comments were posted before the buyer could have even received their product. These need to be run a week or two before the cheap ones will begin to literally blow apart at the seams. The user review system on eBay is of no value whatsoever when shopping for an air dancer.
If you buy an air dancer on eBay for $49, you can be sure it’s worth $20. Two yards our our high quality material alone costs more than that. (2 yards = 2 FT of air dancer tube height).
